Career and Technical Education - Web Resources

Below is a list of Web resources for a variety of careers. The list is in no particular order.

The Associated Building and Contractors (ABC) has launched its national Try Tools Web site. This Web site is designed to help the nation's education community answer questions students may have on careers in the construction industry. It is also very student friendly.

 

The NJATC (National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee) Web site has information on over 59 career choices in the electrical field.

 

www.servicelocator.org or call (800) US2-JOBS to find service providers and local one-stop centers formed by the Workforce Investment Act. Local one-stops are meant to be a key connection between employers and employees.

 

Education, Training, and Development Resource Center for Business and Industry (TASL) allows searches for classes, training, conferences, and training publications by subject, location, and customized services.

 

The US Department of Labor has a special link on its main home page that will lead you directly to the DOL's Office of Welfare-to-Work.

 

A project of Wider Opportunities for Women (WOW) is conjunction with Workplace Solutions, this site provides basic information on non-traditional occupations (NTOs) for women and allows users to locate nearby training programs. Provides the "tools, strategies, and a virtual community that support women in NTOs."

 

ACT Inc.'s Web site directs adults interested in changing careers, entering college or exploring possible career option to such useful resources as GED testing, continuing education, adult basic education, and information on federal assistance.
