In collaboration with other agencies of government, (e.g., The Governor’s Commission on Disabilities, the United States Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, the Rhode Island Human Rights Commission), the Office of Equity and Access coordinates the civil-rights oversight and compliance activities for RIDE.  The office monitors civil-rights activities in order to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations, both within the agency and in the education field as a whole.  The office also monitors Title IX and Section 504 issues in addition to other matters regarding issues of equity and access for public-school students and employees.
