The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE)
administers
approximately $116.7 million in federal aid to Rhode Island districts and schools
in support of direct educational and support services at the pre-school to grade 12 level.
While the United States Department of Education is the primary source of the funds, Rhode
Island schools and districts benefit from funding from other agencies such as the United
States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The state-administered programs are all a result of
federally-enacted legislation. RIDE works closely with the United States Department of
Education, the Council of Chief State School Officers, and the Rhode Island Congressional
Delegation to advocate for federal resources to assist districts and schools to improve
the academic performance of all students.
RIDE tracks new and emerging federal legislation and
programs impacting education to ensure continuity of funding and integration with state
initiatives. In addition to state-administered programs, RIDE also tracks and provides
information on direct federal to local funding opportunities administered by the United
States Department of Education.
Information on programs and funding administered by
RIDE can be accessed on this Web site in the section called
Federal and State Funding.
Information on initiatives of the U.S. Department of
