The fellowship is granted and reviewed each year, with a potential of an additional one or two years. Preview of improvements to the Rhode Island Model for teachers

Since its inception, the Rhode Island Model has been shaped by the voices of educators across Rhode Island.  Throughout the gradual implementation process, RIDE has been listening carefully to learn what's working - and what can be improved in version 2.0 (v2.0).  We held focus groups; collected feedback through statewide teacher, building administrator, and district leadership surveys; and met with school board members, union leadership, and hundreds of other stakeholders across the state.  RIDE is confident that v2.0 will be a stronger model than this year's and one that clearly incorporates the key messages and best thinking we heard from the field.  We have scheduled four regional meetings to discuss details about improvements to the Rhode Island Model.  To preview the improvements, we have created a document that outlines the types of refinements you can expect in v2.0.  The preview of v2.0 of the Rhode Island Model can be found below.

RIDE, RIFTHP and NEARI work together to lead webinar for teachers on educator evaluation

On February 1, 2012, representatives from RIDE, RIFTHP, and NEARI led a webinar for teachers on the status of educator evaluation in Rhode Island. The webinar provided teachers with an overview of both the Rhode Island Model Educator Evaluation System and the Rhode Island Innovation Consortium Model Educator Evaluation System, and discussed how both models were collecting feedback to inform model refinement decisions. Teachers were also provided with an opportunity to ask questions about educator evaluation. A PDF version of the webinar PowerPoint and a video file that lets you hear the conversation are available below.

RIDE hosts webinar for administrators on educator evaluation

On March 29, 2012, RIDE hosted a webinar on educator-evaluation implementation for superintendents, principals, and other administrators. Administrator teams from Beacon Charter School, East Providence, and Portsmouth shared what they are learning this year during gradual implementation, which they will apply to full implementation of the Rhode Island Model next year. A PDF version of the webinar PowerPoint and a video file that lets you hear the conversation are available below.
