RHODE ISLAND REQUIREMENTS FOR ENDORSEMENT IN ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Holders of certificates valid for teaching Physical Education may obtain an endorsement to teach Adapted Physical Education by meeting the following requirements:

1. Three (3) semester hours of approved course work relating to the Characteristics and Needs of Special Populations.
2. Six (6) semester hours of approved course work in Adapted Physical Education.
3. A practicum in physical activities with school age population of special needs children. This practicum must be a minimum of forty-five (45) contact hours.
