Description
Although an electronic portfolio system is not required, it eases the storage, organization, and review of graduation portfolios. If a school decides to use an electronic portfolio system it should contact another school or schools already using an electronic system or contact RIDE or RINET about the state-wide system that is being developed.
It is also important to ensure that students and teachers have adequate access to computers in their classrooms, the library or media center, and/or computer labs in order to enter, reflect on, and review portfolio entries.
Things to Consider
Make sure that requiring students and teachers to use an electronic portfolio system does not place an unfair burden on anyone. Review other systems and make a list of users and their needs and the requirements specific to the school before developing a system or contracting with a vendor to develop a system.
