Description
In the planning process, one of the first things a school should do is develop an analytic rubric with measurable performance indicators. Requirements for instruction and opportunities for students to learn can be guided by the requirements and performance indicators of the final review rubric.
Things to Consider
The rubric must contain measurable performance standards and clearly indicate what is acceptable in order to successfully demonstrate the required proficiencies in the graduation portfolio. Evaluation rubrics must be available to students at the beginning of portfolio development.
The Rhode Island Department of Education is currently developing the criteria lists and rubrics for graduation portfolio review that describe the minimum standards student must achieve to graduate. For more information about these materials, please call 222-8484.
