Students using colored tiles to solve math problems

Mathematics education in Rhode Island is currently centered on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Mathematics.

These standards were developed by a state-lead initiative that actively involved experts in the field of mathematics as well as state-level educational agencies, teachers, and parents. The CCSS provide clear, consistent expectations about the knowledge, skills, and practices students should know and be able to do at each grade level. Educators should use a local curriculum aligned to the standards to plan instruction and assessment. Rhode Island students will take the PARCC Assessment to gauge their achievement with respect to the CCSS.

Student Evidence Statement Analysis by Grade

The following is a list of grade-level Evidence Statements Analyses created to offer insight into the PARCC State Evidence Statement Reports available to districts in PearsonAccessNext. These analyses are provided to Rhode Island districts to support them in making comparisons between the state data for performance on the Student Evidence Statements and their local data, and initiate internal conversations.  These conversations may then inform changes in curriculum, assessment, sequencing, and instructional practice.
