Title I: Part B   Student Reading Skills Improvement Grants

Title I Part B focuses on Student Reading Skills Improvement grants.  They are competitive in nature and establish reading programs for students in K-3 that are based on reading research.  Extensive technical assistance is available to schools that receive the Reading First sub-grants under Subpart 1.  Subpart 2 of Title I Part B is the Early Reading First subpart — focusing on preschool age children to  enhance early language, pre-reading development meant to improve the reading skills of students.  Subpart 3 continues the William F. Goodling Even Start Family Literacy program that provides inter-generation literacy programs for low-income families by combining early childhood education, adult literacy and parenting education.
