Engage Families and Community
Engaging families and communities in the improvement of public education is the battle cry across the country. We must recognize the value that each member of the community brings to the education table. Together RIDE will work with districts as they:

  • Ensure that all district personnel, including the school committee, actively work together to involve families and the community in promoting student achievement.

  • Inform families about educational opportunities within the school system, including public-school choice options, the availability of supplemental services, and the right of every student to be challenged academically.

  • Communicate directly with families of children about learning and behavioral expectations, student outcomes, and the quality of schools and teachers.

  • Actively support schools in working effectively with families and the community in promoting student proficiency across academic, civic, personal, and behavioral dimensions.
