Lead the Focus on Learning and
Achievement
RIDE is
charged, by state legislation, to
hold adults and schools accountable
for student results through support
and intervention. It is not a charge
we take lightly; and it is one for
which we, too, are accountable. No
Child Left Behind specifies
leadership development and support
as a mandated state function. RIDE
has answered the call by
strengthening its leadership
capacity. Today, RIDE houses
experienced superintendents,
principals, coaches, teacher leaders
and system administrators - but
still this is not enough. For
districts in need, RIDE will
identify the right fit for each
district; whether that means
in-house support or external
experts. Regardless of the technical
assistance source, districts will be
supported to:
- Implement a clear,
achievement-oriented vision for
all students that drives
improvement efforts in every
school.
- Articulate coherent and commonly
understood expectations about the
roles and responsibilities of
instructional leaders and school
improvement teams across schools and
grade levels.
- Take responsibility for
keeping the school community
informed about emerging research and
best practices in education.
- Identify potential
barriers to learning at individual
schools, put in place plans to
overcome those barriers, and
evaluate the effectiveness of its
support to schools.
- Intervene with schools
that are failing to make adequate
yearly progress toward instructional
priorities and provide support and
assistance to school staff.
