The U.S. Department
of Education site is the portal for the various
Web sites operated and/or funded by the U.S. Department
of Education. This includes Web sites for the National
Assessment of Educational Progress (the "Nation's
Report Card"), various research consortia targeted
to specific issues, field-based centers who work
with regions of the nation on reform issues, and
educational data of various kinds. It also includes
a copy of President Bush's education plan "No Child
Left Behind".

in Washington, D.C., is the member organization
of the chief administrative officers (state superintendents
or commissioners) of the 50 states and U.S. territories.
CCSSO publishes a variety of reports and organizes
consortia of states to pursue various collaborative

Association of School Administrators is the
chief organization for superintendents and senior
staff members of the 14,800 school districts of
the United States. They publish a journal, other

National Association
of Elementary School Principals is headquartered

Middle School Association, headquartered in

organization that has been heavily involved in education.
Two highly influential reports on early childhood
education and middle school education (Turning Points)

of the LAB is to promote school improvement through

Rhode
Island Skills Commission (RISC) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to facilitating the development
and implementation of the Certificate of Initial
Mastery (CIM) and the Certificate of Advanced Mastery
(CAM). RISC is a partnership of the RIDE, the RI
Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals,
NEA/RI, and the HRIC. There are currently nine districts
working with the RISC on the CIM: Central Falls,
Coventry, Foster-Glocester, Jamestown, Lincoln,
Middletown, Pawtucket, Providence, and West Warwick. |

The Rhode Island Teacher Technology Initiative (RITTI)
is a program supported with a
three-year grant from the Rhode Island Foundation
to URI. It will have given laptop computers to more
than a quarter of Rhode Island teachers by the year
2000. Three major goals undergird the program: 1)
enhance the technology skills of teachers, 2) make
technology an essential tool in the professional
work of teachers, 3) promote the use of technology
with students. |

Island Educational Exchange (RIEDX) is an effort
to collect, organize, and present resources that
support school communities in Rhode Island. Using
its interactive capabilities, RIEDX continually
refines and adds to its collection of opportunities,
regulations, databases, and resources. |

Middle Level Educators (RIMLE). Teachers, administrators,
higher education professionals, parents and others
concerned about the unique needs of early adolescents.
RIMLE provides a vehicle for exchanging ideas and
promoting effective middle-level education.

Network for Educational Technology (RINET) is
a non-profit corporation operating exclusively in
the State of Rhode Island as a collaborative partnership
to support the needs of its K-12 educational community.
RINET's Mission is to

and Internet access services that meet the collective
needs of its members, when such services and programs
can more effectively and economically be provided
on a collaborative basis. RINET also provides Internet
access, email, listserves, and world wide web accounts

The mission of the
Curriculum Resources Center
is to support preservice and
in-service teacher education at Rhode Island College.
To achieve this goal, the Center provides access
to a diversified collection of current curriculum
guides and instructional materials. The objective
is to enable students and teachers to locate, review,
and apply up-to-date materials in the development
of lessons, instructional units, and curriculum
guides.
