Title III Accountability : The AMAOs
No Child Left Behind requires states to hold all districts accountable for the progress and achievement of English language learners.
- English Language Proficiency Attainment - acquiring English language at a reasonable pace
- English Language Proficiency Improvement - reaching English language proficiency at a reasonable pace
- Academic Achievement (AYP) - meeting RI’s AMOs in English language arts and mathematics for the ELL subgroup
- Districts meet the Title III Accountability requirements if they “pass” all three components.
- Districts who don’t meet the requirements must develop an improvement plan as part of their CRP, communicate with families, and be monitored by RIDE.
