Welcome
to the Office of Assessment and Accountability
The Office of Assessment and Accountability is
responsible for the administration of the all aspects of the Rhode Island State
Assessment Program (RISAP). The components of RISAP are listed on the
left. By clicking on the appropriate link, you can learn more about each
assessment. In addition to administration responsibilities, the Office of
Assessment & Accountability staff also oversees the development of the New
England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) in reading, mathematics, science, and
writing in grades 3-8 and 11 and the Rhode Island Alternate Assessment (RIAA) in
grades 2-8 and 10.
The accountability system uses results from the following RISAP assessments
to determine if schools are making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) toward the
goal of having 100% of students proficient by 2014: NECAP reading, writing, and
mathematics assessments and the Rhode Island Alternate Assessment. Specifics on
the calculations and sanctions required under NCLB and the Rhode Island
Accountability System can be found by clicking on one of the accountability
links to left.
