Internships with RI businesses, industries and organizations
CTE students have opportunities to test their interests, aptitudes and abilities throughout their high school careers through participation in internships and co-ops with high-profile RI businesses like Hasbro, Fidelity Investments, CVS, Cox Communications and Roger Williams Medical Center.
CTE students more often make better postsecondary educational choices because of their high school CTE experience and many continue through college graduation for the same reasons. According to the June 2004 report by the NAVE Independent Advisory Panel, “nearly half of vocational concentrators go on to college.”
More importantly, many CTE students enter colleges and universities with advanced standing, putting them at both an educational and financial advantage, due to the various articulation agreements that CTE programs have with postsecondary institutions. Imagine having a semester’s worth of coursework completed while in high school. You’d not only be ahead of the game academically, but you’d cut your education costs by one semester as well!
