step 2 Curriculum Mapping
Action with checkbox imageReview Student Opportunities to Learn

Description

Schools must collect and review individual students' transcripts and course selection to ensure that they will have been exposed to the instruction necessary for the successful completion of an exhibition and/or graduation portfolio. If individuals or groups of students do not have access to essential courses or are not availing themselves of opportunities to enroll in those courses, school personnel must make adjustments to the school's or students' individual schedules. These reviews should be done early and regularly to ensure that all students are given a fair opportunity to learn the content and skills necessary for graduation.

Things to Consider

This curriculum mapping should not be limited to high schools. Elementary and middle schools should also provide multiple opportunities for students to build toward the knowledge and skills that will eventually be required for graduation from a Rhode Island high school.
