step 10 Support and Monitor Student Progress

It is critical to monitor and support student progress through every step of the exhibition process to ensure that all students have an opportunity to complete a successful exhibition. This should begin with the student selection of a topic and continue until the final product has been presented and evaluated by the panel. Mentors, advisors, and coordinators will bear most of the responsibility for this support, but classroom teachers, including special educators, and parents will also play important roles in supporting students. Student progress should be monitored and frequently reported to students and parents. In addition, deadlines must be unequivocally spelled out and strictly adhered to. Failure to comply must carry associated consequences.

Even the most conscientious and capable students are likely to find the exhibition process extremely demanding and challenging. It will require significant time management skills, self-motivation, and commitment. Appropriate adult support and supervision is critical for success.
