/ Q&A
The following questions and answers
will be updated on a regular basis.
Is there a
way to print only the ID cards for those
taking the test in Dec. instead of the
entire list? I tried clicking in front
of their names and generating a report
but that didn't seem to work.
(added 11/26/08)
Unfortunately, no. You will
have to print out the cards and sort
them out.
I know
how to add a student but what if a
student switched schools and still
appears on my list? (added
11/26/08)
You don't have to do anything.
Simply ignore the name. Leaving
the student on your list will not affect
scores for your school.
Is it best for a
student to answer a question or to skip
it? (added
11/19/08)
It is best to answer the question.
The student will be penalized if they
skip a question.
Why is the
“right click” not working during a
performance based question on the
assessment? (added
11/19/08)
The right click is disabled because
the options would be different in
different applications. Students should
use the toolbars to complete the task.
What is the cut
off score for a student to be considered
Technology Literate? (added
11/19/08)
220

a student transfers into the district
and it says “the student ID is already
in use” when I try to enroll that
student? (added
11/19/08)
Email Holly Walsh at RIDE (holly.walsh@ride.ri.gov).
Give the student’s name, the school
where the student is coming from, and
the new school in which they should be
enrolled.

I see what seem
to be outdated items in the sample
assessment? (added
11/19/08)
All the items in the sample
assessment are older questions that have
been removed from the assessment that
the students will take. The questions
in the student assessment were created
in August 2008 and are up to date with
current technology.
Can a student
get partial credit in the performance
items? (added
11/19/08)
No. They receive full credit or no
credit for a multi step item. Students
should pay attention to detail
Are there any
students that do not have to take the
assessment in 8th grade?

the country”, that is any student who
enrolled in a US school on or after Oct.
1, 2007; Students who enroll in the
school after the school designated
testing window.
Can I print out
the Username/Password cards for the
students yet? (added

progress. Thanks for your patients!

I am not getting information
about the new 8th Grade TechLiteracy
Assessment. How can I be added
to the contact list? (added
10/22/08)
Send your request to be added to the
8TECHLIT-L list to
Holly Walsh.
Do students that take the
Alternative Assessment have to take
the 8th Grade TechLiteracy
Assessment? (added 10/22/08)
No.
What accommodations can be
made for ESL students on the
assessment? (added 10/22/08)
For a class of ESL students - The
test administrator may turn off the
randomization of the test items and
read the questions to the students.
For a single ESL student integrated
into a class – The test
administrator may read the test
questions to the student. Test
administrator may determine whether
to administer the test to the
individual student in a different
location or quietly off to the side
so as not to disturb the other
students in the class.
We are looking
into this further to see if this is the
best option and will update with details
