Roster Verification
What is Roster Verification?

Roster Verification (RV) is the process through which teachers and principals verify which students are in which teachers’ classes. This process is critical in ensuring the accuracy of teacher-course-student (TCS) data, which will be used in the new IMS, EPSS, and GMV data systems being developed under Race to the Top, as well as for educator evaluations. All districts in Rhode Island have submitted data to RIDE regarding TCS links for English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics class rosters for grades 3 – 7. The Roster Verification process only applies to principals and teachers in grades 3 – 7 who are considered Contributing Educators based on district policy or guidance.

What do I need to do?
  • Teachers in grades 3-7 who are considered to be Contributing Educators in ELA and/or mathematics will be required to review and verify student rosters.
  • Principals will be responsible for reviewing, investigating issues, and providing a final sign-off on the TCS rosters for all contributing educators in the building.

What do I know if I am a Contributing Educator or not?

A Contributing Educator is a teacher who has an assignment that is expected to contribute to the literacy or mathematics development of students. Every district is responsible for developing policy or guidance on this issue. If you are not sure, your principal should be able to help clarify this.
