Published on Friday, March 15, 2024

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) are inviting high school students across the state to design a logo and slogan to celebrate STEAM Month 2024. Rhode Island STEAM Month, which will be celebrated in November, highlights the importance of education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art+Design, and Mathematics, and celebrates opportunities in these fields offered by Rhode Island schools.

“Creativity and innovation in education is critical for students to have a well-rounded academic experience, and we are proud that Rhode Island remains a leader in this work,” said Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green. “The annual STEAM Logo Design Contest helps to not only promote STEAM opportunities across the state, but also to directly engage students and help them explore their critical thinking skills and artistic abilities. We invite students to help us celebrate STEAM by submitting a logo for consideration.”

The selected design and slogan will be used on promotional items and public announcements by RIDE throughout the month of November. Logos should include a tagline and student-generated artwork. Last year, MET High School senior Teodor Janiga was the winner of the 2023 contest.

The selection criteria for the contest is as follows:

  • Effectively capture the viewer’s attention
  • Promote the innovative and collaborative nature of STEAM
  • Reflect the inclusion of all students in STEAM learning opportunities
  • Clearly promote Rhode Island STEAM Month 2024
  • Be reproducible with sharp, clean edges, free of smudges and extraneous marks
