The RI Model Evaluation & Support System provides districts an opportunity to leverage high-quality feedback to improve educators' practice. Here you'll find information that supports RI districts, school, evaluators, and educators in implementing this system to meet the needs of your local context.

Best Practices Resource Suite

These facilitation resources are intended for DECs, and other individuals in LEA leadership roles in the evaluation system, to use on an annual basis to review and align best practices in a local context. As always, we welcome your questions at EdEval@ride.ri.gov regarding the ways in which these materials can be used in your district.

SLO Self-Audit

SLO Self-Audit for LEAs

LEAs can facilitate an annual professional learning opportunity around an SLO self-audit. The purpose is to better understand the level of SLO quality, to discover trends that could impact policy and practice, or future professional learning needs for educators and building administrators. The follow instructions and SLO audit tool are resources for structuring this opportunity.

SLO Approval

SLO Approval Calibration

LEAs can organize an annual professional learning opportunity to assess the quality and increase the consistency of SLO approval. This session can be designed for both educators and administrators to clarify local policies and help to work toward more consistent SLO approval processes.

SLO Scoring

SLO Scoring Calibration

The following resources provide six scenarios through which LEAs can calibrate the scoring of SLOs. The purpose of this session is to increase the consistency, efficiency, and accuracy of scoring SLOs and SOOs. This may also help to clarify local policies around the reporting and scoring of SLOs and SOOs. As always, LEAs can feel free to use local examples for this learning opportunity.

Teaching Practice

Teaching Practice Calibration

This professional learning opportunity involves looking at the professional practice rubrics used in your local model. There are four protocols for use in various contexts, and can be designed for educators and administrators to clarify local policies and practices, as well as to ensure the consistent scoring of teaching practice through observation.

High-Quality Feedback

High-Quality Feedback Calibration

District administrators and other evaluators can use the Feedback Quality Review Tool independently to assess the quality of feedback they provide to educators post-observations. This tool can also help groups of educators work to reflect and refine the feedback given by evaluators. Furthermore, these resources could also be used to audit local feedback samples to begin conversations around areas for future professional learning.
